Publications Ethics

The code of ethics in the Kappa Journal follows the guidelines of the LIPI Head Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The core of this code of ethics is to uphold three ethical values ​​in publication, namely (a) Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in managing publications; (b) Justice, which is granting authorship rights to those entitled as authors/writers; and (b) Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

This code of ethics applies to all users of Kappa Journal including journal managers, editors, reviewers, and authors.

Journal Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Determine the journal name, scope of science, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
    Determine the membership of the editorial board.
  2. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties in a contract.
  3. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
  4. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
    Conduct journal policy reviews and convey them to authors, editorial boards, peer reviewers, and readers.
  5. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
  6. Publish journals regularly.
  7. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
  8. Build a network of cooperation and marketing.
  9. Prepare licensing and other legal aspects.

Editor's Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Meet the needs of readers and authors.
  2. Strive to continuously improve the quality of publications.
  3. Implement a process to ensure the quality of published writings.
  4. Prioritize freedom of opinion objectively.
  5. Maintain the integrity of the author's academic track record.
  6. Submit corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies if necessary.
  7. Responsible for the style and format of the written work, while the content and all statements in the written work are the responsibility of the author.
  8. Actively soliciting opinions from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve the quality of publications.
  9. Encourage journal assessments if there are findings.
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an
  11. Ethics Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethics Clearance Commission.
  12. Support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
  13. Review the effects of publication policies on the attitudes of authors and peer reviewers and improve them to increase responsibility and minimize errors.
  14. Have an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions.
  15. Do not defend your own opinions, authors or third parties that can result in non-objective decisions.
  16. Encourage authors to be able to improve their written work until it is worthy of publication.

Reviewer Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Received an assignment from the editor to review a written work and submit the results of the review to the editor, as a material for determining the suitability of a written work for publication.

  2. Reviewers may not conduct reviews of written works that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly.

  3. Maintain the privacy of the author by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations.

  4. Encourage authors to make improvements to the written work.

  5. Review the revised written work again according to the specified standards.

  6. The written work is reviewed in a timely manner according to the style of the publication environment based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Ensure that those included in the list of authors meet the criteria as authors.
  2. Collectively responsible for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. State the source of data (including funding), both directly and indirectly.
    Explain the limitations of the research.
  4. Respond to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
    Inform the editor if you will withdraw your paper.
  5. Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.

CODE OF ETHICS and PLAGIARISM POLICY

Code of Ethics for Writing Articles

  1. The author is responsible for the entire content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations and details.
  2. The author immediately responds to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
  3. The author must inform the editor if they withdraw their paper.
  4. The author describes the limitations of this study.
  5. The author respects the publisher if the submitted paper, for one reason or another, is not published.
  6. The author informs the editor of the paper that is part of a gradual, multidisciplinary and different perspective research.
  7. The author makes a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to another publisher.
  8. If there is an error in the paper, the author must immediately notify the editor or publisher.
  9. The use of material from other copyrighted publications must be given written permission and gratitude.
  10. The author refers to the work of others who are appropriately cited and citations used in the paper.
  11. When reporting new discoveries or improving findings, the author must mention previous work, researchers / authors / founders.
  12. Authors are not allowed to provide a bibliography of publications if they have not read the publication.
  13. If requested, the author prepares evidence that the research has met the requirements of research ethics including field notes.
  14. The author responds to any comments or feedback after the paper is published.

Plagiarism Policy

Included in plagiarism are:

  1. Referring and/or quoting terms, words and/or sentences, data or information from sources without citing the source in the citation notes and/or without adequately stating the source.

  2. Referring or quoting random terms, words or sentences and information from sources without citing the source in the citation notes or without adequately stating the source.

  3. Using ideas, opinions, views or theories without adequately stating the source.

  4. Formulating one's own words or sentences from sources of words or phrases, ideas, opinions, views, or theories without adequately stating the source.

  5. Submitting scientific work produced or published by others as a source of scientific work without adequately disclosing it.

Plagiarism Check

The editor checks for plagiarism twice, namely:

  1. Submission process: The article is checked using Plagiarism Checker X after the author submits the article and before the article is reviewed by the reviewer.
  2. Before publication: The article is checked again using iThenticate after the article is declared suitable for publication and is done before the article is published.

Sanctions

If the author is proven to have committed duplication, fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or published one manuscript in two or more different journals, the author will be given sanctions in the form of article retraction, publication cancellation, or the author will be blacklisted from IJIER: Indonesian Journal of Innovation In Education Research.
